Again which one is the absolute truth? What makes some Western Religion more true than some religion of a tribe in South America or Asia?
well who's to say that not believing at all is the absolute truth?
there's no way to truly know, hence "faith"

this is why you never trust an irish, people

What makes one religion or even denomination more true than another?

The main reason for this thread was just to discuss prophecy, not to attack other religions or Christian denominations. However, if I understand it correctly - most if not all religions were reactionary to Judaism (one tell-tale sign of that is that all religions basically deal with the person relying on self to accomplish some goal - whether regarding salvation, reaching some higher existence, etc.). Christianity however was the fulfillment of Judaism, and promotes the person dying to self and relying on God.

Also, it isn't necessarily important which denomination a person belongs to, just as long as they honestly repent and believe / have faith in Christ's finished work. I have family members who have recently put their faith in Jesus, yet remain Buddhist. Repentance and faith in Yeshua is what's important.

You're forgetting the difference here which is that war and bad weather and missing children are real
If that's the case, those things should scare you a lot more than some random guy announcing end-of-day prophecies on the internet. SMH.

Just curious, but in what sense do these family members of yours remain buddhist? Because according to the teachings of Christianity, if they continue to worship other gods and/or believe in salvation/reincarnation through works, they're decieving themselves by claiming to be Christians.

What sucks is that us humans are like hundreds of years away from immortality right now so we won't be able to become immortal anytime soon. Sure google is working on it but it won't be anytime soon.
This is literally the worst idea ever.  With how power corrupts, the Earth will be doomed with this.

Nobody says that not believing at all is the "absolute truth"
it's just that there's no evidence to believe any one of them over the other, so you revert to a position of "I don't truly believe in any of them, but it's possible one of them is true."

Power doesn't corrupt. It just shows people for who they really are.

It's probably a bit of both, but it's naive to think power doesn't change people at all.

power usually does that, but it can corrupt

think of how expensive it'd be for just age immortality :w

invincibility would be even MORE EXPENSIVE!

Or you know, just become a robot :]

It's fearmongering to people who do believe in this honky

Hey man I'm not attacking any religions here I'm simply asking a good question. I'm studying religion in school right now. I'm seriously wondering, what makes Christianity more true than the Hindu of the Nambudiri in India or the Shamanism of the Yanomamo in South America?

Since we're speaking of "prophecy" is it certainty a fair question to ask. Why should I believe the prophecy proposed by the Bible?

And I don't fully agree that most, if not all religions are reactionary to Judaism.
