Author Topic: 'Nostalrius' widely recognised World of Warcraft private server taken down.  (Read 5667 times)

theres a "blockland classic" thread

this is basically the same but for WoW
wait why would you need badspots' permission to post this topic

is it cause this game/spinoff/adaptation isn't legal?
Read the rules of this board, it literally states that you shouldn't talk about private servers

You do realize I know he had permission right? I was responding to why they thought he had to get permission in the first place. Geez, if your going to tell me to read then why don't you do the same and look at my earlier replies.

The quotes you had weren't showing up on my end for a second. I blame faulty internet connection.

Sorry, it was a misunderstanding on my part.

I said this on the topic on OT, but I wonder to what extent we can talk about private servers in general as well. I'm assuming this is just going to be strictly about this server.

Take this as a special circumstance.

This one is fine because it's discussing a well known one that has closed.
Meaning people here can't go and join it.
Private/cracked MMO servers are piracy, and discussing active ones promotes people going to them.

i had no idea that was even a rule

#YouThinkYouDoButYouDont
Alright boys enough of the "IS THIS TOPIC EVEN LEGAL"
How about we actually talk about the problem because this is actually a very big deal
I wish the server had been made officially. A lot of people wanted to play it, but some people had issues with just morally not being able to say "I want to play an 'illegal' version of WoW but I love it so much."
It makes me kind of sad that Blizzard will probably never introduce legacy servers.. Runescape had the same idea and brought back 2007scape. Runescape was dying and now there are two healthy games with two development teams, as opposed to one dead game. Now what does that sound like? Current state of WoW. WoD loving BLOWED. in comparison to every other expansion. It sucks ass because they are actually missing out on the possibility to bring back their profits. The Nostalrius team is even offering to work on the server for free..
Blizzard is being a bag of richards here in my opinion

IDK man, cata was pretty bad. Besides that though, I would totally play vanilla for a month or two as long as it was officials. I couldn't stay on Nost because I knew it was going to go down eventually.

exactly what I'm saying, people were skeptical and scared to play it for that reason and others that basically boil down to: Blizzard isn't hosting it
also cata can never touch WoD's stufftiness

Cata had really stuffty endgame, so I would put it there with WoD. Great leveling revamp tho, just needed more focus on the later stuff. Also don't forget Dragon Soul.

Cataclysm (pre-nerf) was the last time I did end game raiding. I really enjoyed Firelands and DS, so did my guild.

CAN WE PLEASE TALK ABOUT NOSTALRIUS

I never played it so I cant give genuine insight. But from what I can say, Burning Crusade and Cata and most of the other big expansions changed so much of the environment (for example, big craters being added in at cata, several locations being removed entirely, etc)

Though I say Burning Crusade made large world changes, Cataclysm is the one I'm most referring to, because like literally a tenth or more of the world was changed in a dramatic and irreversible way.

I can see why people would like to go back and enjoy vanilla, honestly.

Just not me, personally.
