Author Topic: Best BL RPG You've Played  (Read 11733 times)

Hey guys, just wanting some info on what the best RPG server is you've played on and what made it so good / fun?

I think the most important thing about an RPG is the atmosphere

look at kobewarriors rentaria RPG for example. it's not even near competed and I already loved exploring the landscape he made

i've always loved Gamefandan's Monster RPG, and there was that one RPG around a year ago that took inspiration from RuneScape and it was really really nice. Land of Blocks was really cool too.

KINEX's BlockCity
Its kinda similar to CityRP but the build was loving amazing
its been gone for years though ever since KINEX stopped hosting it

I don't remember the name of it, but it used its own huge terrain map and own system were you could level up one of four stats. I remember getting my hands on the mod itself, but I lost it.

EDIT: Found the map name in an old folder, It's Jorgur's RPG. Does anyone still have the add-on?

Literally none of them. They all sucked, despite the amount of effort that was put into the builds/mods. Too much grinding and stuffty combat systems. Gamefandan's was fun for a few days because it had some decent combat, but the grind got old fast.

Am I right in thinking then that these would be the top 4 priorities for a BL RPG?

1. Large map with good sense of atmosphere
2. Fun/engaging systems
3. Simplicity
4. Fast progression

Speed of progression isn't necessarily the issue.
It's the method of progression.
If you're doing the same thing over and over for a couple of weeks, not only does this enable easy grinding bots, but it's also so boring that people are going to have more fun making bots.
Meaningful progression helps. Instead of getting your stats raised, or meeting some odd tier thresholds... Would be more beneficial to unlock new and exciting things, as well as doing a variety of things to progress. And every little feature doesn't need it's own level.

also I don't think anybody has ever done quests in a bl rpg before, that'd be nice

It was actually pretty common for RPGS to have elaborate quest systems made from variables back around 2010, but the recent notable RPGs didn't even bother to experiment with them.

Port's Viridian RPG
It isn't even close to being finished, but the magic mechanic is so much fun and has so much potential.
