I understand that pregnancy is the women's burden no matter what and in many situations it's even life-threatening, but I can also imagine a scenario where the father would be completely capable of raising a baby the mother didn't want, and it would be pretty stuffty in that case to let the baby be aborted anyways.

The time and effort to get everyone's life story to make sure the baby meets the abortion criteria would be too costly to be something that happens and I guarantee a lot of people would flat out ignore the criteria and continue the procedure because not everyone feels the same way about the topic

Abortion in circumstances where the pregnancy was either involuntary or could pose health risks should not be questioned IMO.

On the other end of the issue, it is going to sound terrible and there is absolutely no other way to phrase it, but if a child is going to be unable to experience the world due to severe disability that is known before birth, I find a larger ethical dilemma in bringing into the world a child that is only living in the literal sense than in termination of pregnancy.

I wasn't literally implying that in order to be allowed to have an abortion, it has to be under these guidelines. I was implying that when people get abortions, they should only go to get one if they got raped or a mistake.

yeah, i guess in that case the main thing is that you're making a women to go through a pregnancy she doesn't want. i'm sure a lot of people would loosely apply the term "rape" there, which i don't think is entirely accurate, but it's definitely a problem of consent, and i think the woman should take precedence since in pregnancy the woman is kinda getting the raw end of the deal lol

Exactly why I'm a bit conflicted there. It's a really complicated issue with a really simple solution, which is to leave it entirely up to the woman. I feel as though it just isn't right but that's how I feel, I can't really come up with a solution because I don't really have any perspective on childbirth.

I mean if they WANT to ask their husband that's great, I'm all for that. but it should absolutely not be a legal requirement. that would not only be awful as heck, but it would provide another way for abusive partners to be abusive, probably far beyond any other level of abuse they could think of on their own
