Author Topic: Blockland Super Cup Racing Tournament  (Read 6204 times)

Welcome to the current announcement page for the Blockland Super Cup Racing Tournament! Why stop at soccer when you have so many amazing cars to drive! This will be a serious event and will be hosted during the Australian Summer(American Winter) & Winter(American Summer) Holidays! Events (should hopefully be) will be live streamed on Twitch as well for those who either can't join or just want to watch whilst doing something else.
(I recommend going to this link and studying up a bit on the V8 Super Cars: http://www.foxsports.com.au/motorsport/v8-supercars )

The Goal:
The Goal is to have 8 Teams, each with 2 cars making a total of 16 (Leaving room for a few extra's like the Safety Car) all racing against each other in multiple races across a season. Each season will be hosted once a year and at different tracks. The first track of the season will be atHockenheimring and end at Mt Panorama, Bathurst! Even though there are teams it will be an every man for himself style. Just 1 of your teams cars has to cross the line for your team to win the race. Extra points if both your teams cars come 1st and 2nd.

The Teams:
As previously mentioned there will be 2 teams, each consisting of 2 cars. Your team must have 1 manager and 4 drivers. Drivers will be switched on races longer then 10 laps at the half way mark so not to fatigue drivers. You must also have a "Pit Crew", they will be responsible for refuelling your teams vehicles and monitoring your car and doing there best to make sure you win. Your team MUST have a minimum of 6 members. It is optional to go bigger. Your Team will communicate with each other via a Private Discord Chat Room which will be a channel on the Blockland Super Cup Discord. Team Names must be able to fit on a 3x8 (3 Tall 8 Wide) sign which will be displayed out the front your garage.
Sign Ups!:
Time for the exciting part! If you wish to sign up, PM me on discord (The Sir Rolfe#1226) with your Team Name, Your Crew and, if you can get one, your sponsor! Yes! We are allowing people (Add-on Creaters, Map Makers and etc) who are willing to back your team to do just that! They will have there occupation/business displayed on your garage and in some places around the track. Once they back you, they back the Tournament. If you win a race or the whole Tournament, your Sponsor can give you a prize! That's up to them though ;) For more information go here: https://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=304046.0
It would be a good idea to practise when ever the server is up!

Current Sponsors:
Rakuen Real Estate (Brickitect)
Paint Co. (-Paint-)
Sketchs Terrain Scapers (Sketcher)
Cohort Team (Sylvanor)
Blockaloni
Crown & Niblics Jail break (Crown)
Filipe1020 Vehicles (Filipe1020)

Races, Tracks & Broadcasting:
The amount of races is still to be decided. Broadcasting will be done on Twitch and the first track for this year is Hockenheimring.

Officials (Builders, Managers, Safety Team & More):
I am looking for Officials to help out the Tournament. If you want to help out with anything then please PM via my Discord (The Sir Rolfe#1226 or via the forums if you can't) with what you want to help out with and please try to give an example of your previous work in your category you want to fill. If you are new and don't have many skills and still want to help out, I will consider your offer and get to you with my decision. Some decisions may be made by looking through post history.
(I don't want trolls, spammers, drama queens or idiots)

The Vehicles:
Vehicles will range from F1's and Sports Cars to Motorbikes and Dune Buggy's (The Buggy's will be for a special track). SuperKarts and SpeedKarts will most likely not be used due to they are very common for racing and do not bring anything new. All they bring is lots of ramming and flying out of maps. I also hope that Filipe1020, who's vehicles will be primarily used, though I am looking for others, doesn't mind them being used.

Discord:
Here is the code for the Blockland Super Cup Discord: https://discord.gg/XNspFeT

If this does look interesting to you, consider signing up for being an Official or for teams. This is still in early stages but do not, what ever you do, let that put you off. The more people who sign up, the sooner this becomes a reality.

maybe have the white text stay black

good luck on this though, but you are aware of how iffy the vehicle physics can be in this game right? it sorta makes doing professional racing difficult but don't let that stop ya if you wanna keep going

I am aware of this. Kinda why I need to test a lot of this.

In memory of Peter Brock, the King of the Mountain. The best driver to ever race Mt Panorama, Bathurst. It was 10 year's today (October 8th) that he passed away.

2 things worry me:
1. You're Australian and Australian internet is known to be crap (unless that's a joke that I completely missed which is entirely possible)
2. Most participants would be American or European so even if you have good internet the connection to most racers would be on the other side of the world

1. Australia Internet is fine if you have NBN which I do. I wouldn't be hosting anyway since I can't.
2. I have also though of this. Blockland is most popular in the Australian mornings so that would most likely be when it's done. Roughly 5:00AM Australian EST. I probably won't commentate it either. I'd be monitoring everything.

If you Can't PM me via Discord, PM me via the forums.

Thanks again WALDO for helping me fix my hosting. Also, a joke.

Hey, thats pretty vroom!

Thanks again WALDO for helping me fix my hosting.
No problem! Though you may want to rent a VPS to host the tournament on, that way it has better ping. But first, concentrate on finishing the build, so far it doesn't look half bad. You may also want to scale down the tournament since this is your first time hosting one. Managing a tournament isn't so easy, so please consider starting things off simple. Good luck nonetheless!

Easy on the colors OP

Im not sure what you mean by this but ok?
