I mean, the two main arguments that people use to oppose transgender bathroom laws are kind of bullstuff.
1. Creepy men will enter the opposite love's bathroom to uh, hear them pee or something. That or they'll pose as women to grope/rape women.Which isn't technically impossible, but
who actually does that? Also, our current bathrooms do not discriminate based on loveual orientation, so there's really nothing preventing a gay guy/lesbian from entering their own bathroom for 'loveual purposes'.
And as for groping/raping, that's already illegal no matter where you do it, and limiting transgender people from using their chosen bathroom probably won't actually cut down on bathroom rapes (if such a thing even exists).
2. Transgender people disagree with my preconceived opinion about what gender is.Which you're entitled to believe, but that's sort of a poor basis for rule of law.
I think that when it comes to laws that restrict personal freedoms (especially ones that disproportionately target small groups of people), we should really try to only pass the ones that
significantly benefit society. Laws based on boogeyman stories about fictitious, transgender rapists don't really pass that test, in my opinion.
