The Supreme court will rule on the case of transgender bathroom usage at public schools that has been a massive controversy as a result of a Virginia law mandating transgenders use the bathroom of their biological love. The case concerns the Obama administration's power to require schools to allow transgenders into their preferred bathroom.

The case originates from a Virginia school's policy that forced Gavin Grimm, a transgender man, to use the women's restroom. Gavin sued the school district stating the policy was discriminatory and violated his civil rights.

Bathrooms should be based on love and not gender, not that there is a difference between the two but some seem to think so

the only restriction is whether one looks the part

it's not like anyone will be outside the door inspecting down there

id restrict it to love-determined bathroom usage simply because its the simplest solution and doesnt involve having to consider the various ways one identifies themselves. its pretty bs to expect everywhere to cater to your personal views; respecting them is one thing, but demanding access to a different/exclusive bathroom is a bit much.

I mean, the two main arguments that people use to oppose transgender bathroom laws are kind of bullstuff.

1. Creepy men will enter the opposite love's bathroom to uh, hear them pee or something. That or they'll pose as women to grope/rape women.

Which isn't technically impossible, but who actually does that? Also, our current bathrooms do not discriminate based on loveual orientation, so there's really nothing preventing a gay guy/lesbian from entering their own bathroom for 'loveual purposes'.

And as for groping/raping, that's already illegal no matter where you do it, and limiting transgender people from using their chosen bathroom probably won't actually cut down on bathroom rapes (if such a thing even exists).

2. Transgender people disagree with my preconceived opinion about what gender is.

Which you're entitled to believe, but that's sort of a poor basis for rule of law.

I think that when it comes to laws that restrict personal freedoms (especially ones that disproportionately target small groups of people), we should really try to only pass the ones that significantly benefit society. Laws based on boogeyman stories about fictitious, transgender rapists don't really pass that test, in my opinion.

Good point, however
that's already illegal no matter where you do it, and limiting transgender people homoloveuals from using their chosen bathroom probably won't actually cut down on bathroom rapes (if such a thing even exists).

Preventing access to the ability to do a crime seems to apply to everything else except this. You'll see people say "ban guns, people will use them to commit crimes" while forgetting to mention that those crimes are still illegal regardless of whether they have a gun or not.

If you restrict bathroom access to people's biological love, people will notice if someone goes into the wrong bathroom. Otherwise, they'll turn a blind eye to it. Ever hear of the phrase, "If you see something, say something?"

if them transcigarettes touch texas we will grab the shotguns and engage hunting season

If you restrict bathroom access to people's biological love, people will notice if someone goes into the wrong bathroom.
only if its noticeable and/or careable

it has to stand out

Plenty of people
I don't see the relevance here. Photographing nude women without their consent is already a crime, and I seriously doubt that this guy was spurred to photograph them as a direct result of transgender bathrooms. I also doubt that there's a correlation between increasing transgender bathrooms and reported incidents of voyeurism.

Yeah, but victimizing a minority of people over fictitious fears is something we should generally stand against. There's a reason why it's illegal for airports to profile people wearing turbans.

I'm not really anti-gun, so this doesn't as much apply to me: but the reason why people want gun laws is because they will allegedly reduce the amount of gun violence. Kicking transgender people out of their chosen bathroom will not increase nor decrease the incidents of rape/voyeurism in bathrooms.

i'd just leave it up to the states, honestly.

If you have a functioning snake use the bathroom with snakees in it

If you have a functioning vagina use the bathroom with vaginas in it

Really isn't that hard people

trands gender more like idiot gender.

i dont want this because it will mean a future of urinals being removed from all bathrooms, and just added stalls everywhere.
and thast is not acceptable.

this ruling could affect more than just bathrooms btw, a ruling in favor of the school district could set precedent against anti-discriminatory policies for trans individuals. the reason being that the case's reasoning is based on an application of the 14th amendment and title IX of the us education amendments of 1972 (x). if the supreme court decides that these two do not apply to transgender individuals, it would set a precedent that could reach far further than just the bathroom.

this is the relevant trans boy wanting to use the men's restroom
