Author Topic: [Moving Dropbox links to Google Drive] [BL Add-Ons] - Status  (Read 2540 times)

So apparently I am permanently banned for sharing links, and I don't know why.

It's been a few months now and I am going to assume I am not getting unbanned from this crap. I don't know where to contact support, if someone could please help with that, I could attempt to ask why.
Note: I have never been banned from dropbox

Sorry for anyone who has been finding my links and wonder why they give you a traffic error.

Here is a status of forum links that are found by me or others that I have posted.

Report if links are not shared correctly

same

it's pretty dumb how they restrict it to 20gb/day
not using dropbox again :(

Thing is, I never hit the limit, it does not even tell me why I am banned. Dropbox is stupid.

I've tried looking for support but it keeps putting me back into the same stupid page that thinks it'll help me with my problem.

Dropbox has a history of banning links well before hitting a limit. Dropbox is only good for sharing with a few people at best. High traffic links are grounds for a link to be banned, regardless of bandwidth usage.

Pretty sure there's been warnings about using Dropbox as your file sharing service posted around here.

Dropbox is intended on being cloud storage, whether that's for transferring between your devices, or sharing a folder for a small group of people.
Not for posting files on forums.

I use MEGA sharing. Free 50 GB accounts, unlimited sharing with or without a decryption key. Never had a problem, super nice website.

Dropbox has a good history of disrespecting their users. I stopped using Dropbox about a year ago and moved on to using things like Google Drive.

dropbox is great. dropbox is not for public file hosting. if you use a personal cloud storage service as a public file host, expect to be disappointed. perhaps instead you should use a public file hosting service

I've 'dropped' Dropbox ages ago, Mega is a great alternative being that it's an easy upload and share from your desktop.

Or if you wanna be like the cool kids you can get your own VPS and host files from that.

OR - if you want to be like the really cool kids you can build your own server using scrap parts like me! ;)

pls I'm not sure he wants to invest so much money, it's bound to close down sooner.

Why not edit the links in all your topics? It sounds like you still have the files, you can just upload them somewhere else and update the links.

He can't update the links if they're on old topics.

why doesn't anyone use Google drive? I've been using it for years and I've had no trouble

The quick edit feature works on any post, even if they're old.
