And speaking of Smash Bros., if they're not gonna have the Miiverse, what'll happen to the Miiverse stage and the graffiti and message popups in Splatoon?

And why does the voice chat need a special phone app?! They've incorporated a mic into the DS and 3DS, why couldn't they do that on the portable console and/or the controllers?

what if i told you one of your favorite bands was having a concert. it was going to be cheap. it was going to be amazing. the only downside is that the entire event the air smells like stuff. the stench of feces constantly running through your nostrils and there was no way around it. the feces stench atmosphere also happened the previous year. and the year before. but the concert is still cheap. since the concerts cheap, you basically get what you pay for.  but your band will never play somewhere that isn't a stuff hole, so you have no better options. now other bands have concerts too! the atmosphere doesn't smell like feces either! well, at least some of their concerts do not. but for the concerts that do smell like stuff, its cheap entry. but your favorite band always plays in a cheap, stuff-smelling place.

my point is that nintendo in this scenario is your favorite band. your favorite band, nintendo, plays the best music (best games). but of course are limited (nintendo-console exclusive) to the stuff-smelled atmosphere (under-par hardware). if nintendo raised the price of their concert tickets, they could afford a place to perform that didnt smell like stuff. (put better hardware in their systems)
the only thing that smells like stuff is your horrible brown townogy

i think because the point is for it to be a portable console, they want to just let you use mobile data if you aren't near wifi

that being said, if you're playing online you're either using a mobile hotspot or you're on wifi anyways. it probably has more to do with the structure of the online system they're setting up since it seems to rely a lot on the app

Questions I have:
-Why does it have a multitouch screen when it's meant to be docked. Like how is that gonna work, like a few indie games that REQUIRE undocked mode?
-How is there no miiverse? No Splatoon drawings winning competitions for Splatfests, pretty boring without it.
-No internet applications? How? Like I get it, Netflix and stuff are everywhere, but I think about 4,000 people may actually completely not buy the system (which isn't a lot though but seems like it'll be that amount).

is there confirmation that there won't be netflix and stuff everywhere

Uh, you know the console is mobile, right??????

it's a fair enough concern tho; games that make heavy use of touch features won't really work the same when docked. ofc you probably just wouldn't play them docked if that's the case

I saw somewhere that media features will be added later

does anyone else find it weird that their using the new loz and basically only the new loz in their marketing for the product?
Never thought about that

ok fr tho this new mario looks like ass. where tf is a super mario sunshine sequel, get rid of this garbage
Never thought about that
probably because its the most anticipated game for the console

I'd say it's too early to judge the new mario game, let's wait for E3

wtf wow bro i hope you know i take that to heart i worked so hard on that

trog, chill. the hostility comes from legit coders being offended that you thought you knew how graphics/optimization works nor the business decisions and the reasons for them that led to the switch having its current specs. if i were you id drop it entirely.

to put it this way - playing a lot of games doesnt make you good at designing or making them. not even reading design manuals and studying the subject makes you good at them. only actually having experience doing them matters, and when people who presume they know how to do it tell people who actually have done it how to do it, those experienced people tend to get a little aggravated at being told how to correctly do their job by this inexperienced roostery person. this applies to hardware design and business decisions as well.

to put this in perspective: im sure a ton of people had suggestions or criticisms about new years. but you did the best you could, maybe even cut out the things that people asked for so you had time to work on other features most people appreciated.

the best you can do is question why things are the way they are, not imply that the decisions that led things to the way they are can be explained by one "problem" and solved by one "solution." remember that people in the games industry aren't there because they didnt have anything better to do: the vast majority gave up possible careers in mainstream industry with better pay to do what they love, aka making games. they arent going to make decisions that ruins the experience without a decent reason, whether its financial or artistic

it's not even that, it's that you really can't compare a semi-decent framerate and resolution to a horrible smell. one of them is directly repulsive to the senses, and one of them is just coming short of something better.

unless he actually thinks something smelling like stuff is a bit short of something smelling nice.
