They also use the money to help people improve technology in block-building and housing-construction to better withstand earthquakes.
But notably, browse their website and you'll find absolutely no invitations for unskilled, random teenagers looking to 'make the world a better place' by getting a free expensive plane ticket and going to 'help build houses'. Their volunteer page asks for an actual construction engineer with a degree in the field. This is what effective altruism looks like.
