i'm not too much of a fan of the current building mechanics, but that's probably because i'm too used to how blockland controls. honestly idk how else you could do brick placing controls as well as blockland though.
and also, the idea of using absolutely any color you want i'm not a fan of either. I liked colorsets because you didn't have to mess around with sliders, and you can easily get back a color that you used previously really easily and quickly. The idea of client-sided colorsets, ones you can download or create yourself is interesting though, as it's potentially possible to go on any server you'd like and use whatever colorset you'd want, with access to the sliders still if needed (and no color limit!)
plus right now i'm very concerned on lag/slowdowns. the grid loading in that last video seemed slow and i'm concerned we can't, like, place even more bricks then blockland can atm.

those are all my concerns right now though

this was fairly easy to implement on my save loader
http://stevy.ml/bl/
that's pretty cool, wasn't expecting it to handle rounds
doesn't support ramps though, and would be a good addition to check if the bricks are rendered (ie supporting bricks)

all the default ramps should be available. did they not work?

my bad, ramps show, I had an arch above a door (thought it was ramps)

also, Q/E for up/down camera movement would be cool

ah yeah I don't have any of the default addon brick packs added at the moment so arches aren't there. I'm holding off on that until I finish the BLB parser. color data works right now but I still haven't gotten textures working yet

good idea

Is there gonna be a separate build-mode where you can freely move the camera like Roblox?
It's different and it might make things easier so I approve.
If you're gonna do that, though, I'd implement mouse selection for copying, pasting, and applying things to loads of bricks.

default duplicator should fit all your needs for this kind of stuff

or potentially an editor similar to unity, with its copying/pasting and movement

i really dont want this to happen, it actively discourages working on the same thing together since it detaches you from a player object and essentially sends you to a single player zone

even with multiple people it would feel detached since there's no actual players doing anything, just bricks appearing on a grid. i really really really really really want to emphasize my concerns here as i think it would kill the social aspect of the game (if any) very silently but effectively.

although blockland (and potential successors) is quite an easy game to develop things on, it should /not/ be a sort of emulation of a development engine, since it is (or should be) a game above all other things, and will be advertised as such.

the issue is
do you want it to be useful for making maps
or do you want it to be ingame fun

if there's more of an ingame, like minecraft, then building ingame should match it
but if working on a large project like a map, tools like that would be useful

I think there should be a singleplayer "Editor" where no one else can join. This Editor allows you to make large maps at once, by generating them out of bricks, or individually creating the bricks and then saving them for later. It would make it much easier and give more incentive to use multiplayer, and for those days when you have no internet, just pop out a few maps and there you go, add a few weapons and you pretty much have a server!

blockland....... 2?
