You word this as though everyone counterprotesting saw violence as an appropriate response to the protest. Most of the protestors (on both sides) were peaceful and you shouldn't expect a violent response if you're not being violent yourself.

daily reminder that Antifa has made it a point to violently attack any large conservative gathering for the past year now

the national socialists would literally not have this excuse if Antifa didn't do the stuff they do

relevant

don't make richard Spenser angry....you wont like richard Spencer when richard  Sponsor is angry

spencer is probably the only guy in the entire protest who actually goes to the gym

im gonna pummel richard spencer with an iron mace

richard spencer is such a slimy loving chud

so what does it take to forget richard spencer honestly

Richard Spencer is a hilarious figure in how he gets humiliated like some kind of white supremacist clown on the regular

spencer is probably the only guy in the entire protest who actually goes to the gym

*Went to the gym he got kicked out remember?

so what does it take to forget richard spencer honestly
ya gotta sacrifice 3 goats

as far as i know the only violent thing counter protesters did was tear down the statue without authorities consent. i personally expect violence when a large amount of people physically come together with strong conflicting ideas in this fashion. i certainly wasn't surprised to see this outcome. its human nature to fight for what you feel is right. were clearly in a time where it doesnt matter what you say. one side will see you as right, and the other side will see you as wrong. you cant change that kind of mind. especially on the spot. neither one of these sides would have come to the conclusion "it was wrong for us to come out here today".

with that in mind, i think things would have gone much smoother had counter protesters taken baby steps. let the national socialists make their point, let them leave, and then either
a: make your point by counter protesting
or
b: make your point by proceeding to remove the statue like it doesnt matter. becuase it doesnt

it may have been provoked by morons but the dude is even more of a moron by trying to get away by driving full speed down the lane

This I agree with

even when they're destroying cars on a regular basis
someone hits your car, you can citizen's arrest them or signal an officer. you don't get to run them over. this is common sense.

the national socialists would literally not have this excuse if Antifa didn't do the stuff they do
I mean it would make it easier to keep the blame on national socialists, but the Charlottesville violence wasn't 'in response' to Antifa. The guy in the Dodge Charger drove into a crowd of regular, peaceful counter-protestors.

Yes, signal an officer the middle of that stufffest
If the police had any presence none of this would have happened to begin with

you can citizen's arrest them or signal an officer

in the middle of a riot?

keyword "excuse"
as in they had no intention of using weapons only for self-defense but because of Antifa's activities people gave them more credence than they deserved
