currently, several servers on blockland that have more than a few players are being hit by dos attacks by a (currently unknown at the time of writing) source. until all of this blows over, please avoid hosting blockland servers with more than a couple of players or use extreme caution while hosting, you don't exactly want your router to be flooded and your ISP to knock down your door. please stay tuned to this thread, as well as the thread in drama for updates on the situation, as it's seeming to be pretty bad right now.

How bad are the DDoS attacks? I experienced heavy lag on cornw's jelbrkae before the server finally gave in and crashed.

its a pretty nice botnet, i got 257 individual ip connections in about a second.
they're just going server to server, so anything that's being hosted is gonna be knocked off.

The attacks seem to last long enough just to crash the server (or make it disappear from the master list at least) and then it moves on to the next. Very systematic way of trying to "take down Blockland". I have been extremely busy with a 72 hour work week, so I haven't been able to delegate any time to investigating the data I'm getting from Glass Hosting.

Is this the end times the answer is "probably not"

Blockland 2014 all over again
Is this rather coincidence where I checked out MOR's Twitter around a few days ago for some odd reason?

whyd you blank out the ip..

it's almost impressive that someone out there actually has no better way to spend their time.

It's not even just that.

The fact that they will actually put the effort into attacking a small community. Just because they were likely outcasted for not being able to act even remotely decent.

could a possible remedy be to password the server? i remember testing once connection spam attempts to lag servers, and passwording stopped it entirely. dont really kno that much about networking so pls educate me
