Author Topic: Topic too old exploiting.  (Read 28403 times)

So I bump a topic that hasn't reached the too old limit that was still on the first page, everyone flips their stuff.

Someone bumps an almost 2 year old topic by exploiting the system, "lol okay tony"

The double standards is reaching levels off the loving charts here.
The context matters.
You were bumping threads without adding anything to them. You just wanted it to get more attention.
In this case, the bump happened because there was something new to present.

Why is there problems for someone posting on a topic on the first page over someone posting in a topic after a year?
No the point of bumping a topic is when it cannot be seen off the first page. Bumping the topic if it is still on the first page is pretty stupid.

If the topic is good and is definitely not on the first page I am fine with it. If I can see it on the first page and then it gets bumped you have problems.

Is your comprehesion horrible or what

It also matters if you're bumping it because you have something to add or you're bumping it to get more attention

I mean what about the NRP General. It fulfilled the latter more than the former.

necrobumping can be useful for situations where, for example, you hosted a server a year ago, stop hosting it and the thread gets "too old", and then you decide to bring back the server and instead of making another topic, you can just bump the original one. it avoids topic spam from remaking the same topic over and over again.

I guess that's different since it's a reference post and interest-polling thread meant to be a catch-all so as to not spam the board. It's a little different than bumping your "evil antifa terrorist trigglypuff shows love for CIA" post because no one's replying.

u see that's because when you bump something it's for an absolutely handicapped reason

This post gave me contact autism

back in the day only rlcbm did it

yeah it's an exploit, but it's so conditionally useful that i don't think it's worth patching out. if it lets people avoid having to make new topics for the exact same subject then i say it's fine

Example?

Example?
You'd have to do a lot to piss off Zaxstar
the drama was already over and this added nothing new to the table
also you did it today too

the only reason tony's mad is cause he didnt do it first

It was on the first page, not much of a bump.

7 day bump

vs.

1 year and a 9 month bump.
