this sounds good. by plank do you mean that as in upper push-up position? ive seen it a few ways apparently
any suggestions on pullups too, or just do what i can as i get stronger
Yeah, upper push-up position.
If you have a pull-up bar, get on it and start dead hanging. You can have a overhand grip or underhand grip, whichever feels more comfortable and works better. Pull yourself up from the dead hang where your chin reaches above the bar. Congrats, your first pull-up. However, you can not kip or sway to get your chin above the bar, otherwise it doesn't count.
If you can't make a full pull-up or don't have a pull-up bar, find something to latch onto where your feet don't touch the ground, like a ceiling rafter or otherwise. The alternative would be to perform a 90 degree flexed arm hang, so you're not lifting yourself any higher, but you're holding yourself in position, like a plank, but for your arms.
