sales didn't decline, sale growth was slowed.
schnatter was curbing the blame for the papa john stock price fall by blaming it on black nfl protesters
Where is the loving post where he said "Our sales growth has slowed because of the Black NFL protestors." ?

Also people order pizza from PPJ anf other places for NFL games which are usually large group gatherings. Football is also considered an american staple, so when youre watching the NFL and you see NFL protestors protesting your country out of anger from a subject not related to the thing theyre protesting, expdct backlash, and by extension less pizza parties.

They sat their and disrespected veterans and effectively failed in protesting what they really were against, and using bullying tactics to make people submit to their political position no matter the cost is loving fascist.

The comments drew praise from white supremacists and the company apologized two weeks later.
when you don’t have anything of substance to perform a character assassination, you can always say anonymous white supremacists love someone (hence you can imply they are white supremacists without having to deal with pesky things like proof and libel laws).

papa john's is an official partner with the NFL
it's what is most associated with the pizza, and people stopped watching the games because a bunch of moral grandstanders were loving them up with stupid protests that directly conflicted with a lot of the values of the audience
it's perfectly clear as to how that would affect sales for their partners

then again everyone is so blatant about being monday-haters nowadays, so you can't really tell can you nonnie
