Author Topic: [INT. NEWS] Alfie Evans dead  (Read 10610 times)

wonder if theres a full medical report out there that explains why the doctors deem him unsaveable and that keeping him alive is not in his best interests. fhe judge appears to defer to their judgement on the matter (eg based on their evidence), so they can and should be questioned directly

the doctors have mentioned in the other articles on the op that the devices to keep him alive often causes pain to the child, and iirc his brain is screwed to the point of no return. in addition they have been keeping him treated for a year or so and apparently his situation has only deteriorated. based on this little knowledge it appears to be a decision based more around “dont draw his death out longer with painful futile efforts” sort of decision.

the fact he was breathing on his own for a bit doesnt show he has improvement considering the fact his father needs to give assistance now. im not sure theres a strong case for keeping the baby alive, but if italy is willing to shoulder the burden then the uk ahould let them

or they could let the child go to italy and get operated on
Genuinely curious what miraculous Italian surgical operation is able to repair widespread, permanent brain damage.

I think if two parents want to ship their non-consenting infant to a foreign country to get a medical procedure of dubious efficacy and safety, the government should be able to prevent that from happening.

On June 15, 2014, Matt Carriker a.k.a; DemolitionRanch, was arrested in his Texas home due to possession of drugs. He was found in his upstairs bedroom, foaming at the mouth, and screaming profanities. Police investigated the area and found large quantities of cannabis and cocaine. Large amounts of alcohol were also thought to be a cause. He is currently in the Western State Hospital recovering. His wife, Meredith, told Texas Police 'he had been acting odd lately' and 'he wasn't like himself'...
holy stuff

Since the medical care is paid for by the government they also have the right to remove life support at any time since it is their own service. In the united states its different because you'll be paying directly for the life support so the surrogate/patient has a say in whether or not they want to be taken off life support

Its good that Italy is offering an air ambulance, but the UK or the hospital is not responsible for 'murder' since life support is a pretty expensive machine that the hospital is basically paying for out of their own money.
this, lots of tax money is being paid to keep him alive and we already are in a deficit with budget cuts everywhere as it is

rest in peace. its sad that this happened but it was only a matter of time.

there's a really easy way to fix this

there's a really easy way to fix this

you're right, let's just make the parents pay for it and have them go broke just trying to keep their child alive

great idea

if your solution was applied then alfie wouldn't have even gone on life support in the first place. the parents wouldn't have had enough money to afford it for even the first day

there is a hospital in Italy willing to operate on him but Alder Hey is forbidding the child to go and they've just taken him off life support

what about this though?

what about this though?
it doesn't matter because the roman doctors set to receive alfie eventually backed out because they concluded that alfie was inoperable.

Alfie was legally allowed to leave the hospital at any time its just that they aren't legally responsible to provide any sort of ambulance that would take them to rome. Its not like the parents can just drive the child home in their car, he'd basically die along the way home.

right sorry i forget spending lots of other people's money on a lost cause is ok but once the money is coming from once source that makes it immoral

Immoral? I think the point is more that it's not practical because all the families would be loving broke

Incredibly fringe issue comes up that slips through the cracks of a system and everyone's arguing in bad faith. What a topic

Socialized medicine is awesome!
