i camt wait to run linux on my NINTENDO SWITCH..... upvote if you agree reddit
YOU DONT UNDERSTAND!!!!!!!!!!! IT RUNS LINUX!!!!!!! IT RUNS! LINUX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

is this the only thing you're going to make fun of or what, because i'm pretty sure only 3% of people care about linux itself and more about dolphin running

nintenyearolds will defend potentially bricking and voiding the warranty of their oversized calculators

unless you're completely braindead and just immediately do stuff there's a low chance of bricking
literally all you do is connect a wire to the volume up + power buttons to enter recovery mode, and even then you don't need to open it
then you just plug it into a computer via USB to load the exploit
it could not be any simpler

for the curious, here's a timeline of everything that's happened so far

i do care about linux.

Nintendo should never have used off the shelf hardware.
oh well, another portable emulator system.
This will probably be better than the PSP, assuming the batteries aren't going to die withing 5 years & no viable replacement alternatives outside of new old-stock.
even sony has to purchase processors and graphics chips and such from other companies. no tech company is completely standalone.

the difference is in how the core os is coded, which can improve performance with lower tier hardware, and the hardware choices themselves being not the highest tier, in order to get the console to a low enough price to sell well.

on that note, overloaded hardware results in a system like the vita where the chicken and egg syndrome kicks in: people dont buy the system unless theres good games for it, and devs dont make games for it cause there isnt enough users to make a profit

Point is software wise Nintendo did a pretty good job securing the Switch so far unlike past systems. This hardware exploit is entirely on nvidias end.

Now there's 14+ million exploitable Switches out there and no real way of fixing this aside from a hardware revision (which is already being worked on).

Well unless a nintendo employee sneaks into my house and changes my switch, homebrew here i come... when it's reasonable to do so.

OH BOY TIME TO BRICK MY SWITCH

lol i had homebrew on my original wii and on my wii u's vwii

I still find it odd that for the letterbomb that they made it an actual texture.

once you manage to find a proper exploit, anything's possible
it could be that there was an unused feature for something like that functioned using an SD card -- similar to how the PS2 could be softmodded using freemcboot by abusing the barely used update feature from memory cards

Nintendo should never have used off the shelf hardware.
.... what does this even mean? literally every electronic interface ever made has been produced with hardware from other companies.

its interesting to see all these 14 year old skiddies sperg out with joy about this news while nintendo now has to put down thousands of dollars to patch this. they probably got a ton of developers over at nintendo working graveyard to patch this issue up and all people can do is say "yay homebrow!!!!"'

a hardware revision (nothing too major) that fixes this is on the pipeline already

so i guess you're better off buying a switch right now if you want homebrew

will jk put his save manager on the switch? thats the only real reason i ever get homebrew

explain 5 uses to me for homebrewing
