Well, we could discuss Yahtzee's review of MGS4, but it's obvious we can't.

I did on Grand Theft Auto because those things were actually funny and true.  Half the stuff he's saying isn't 1. funny 2. true.

No, you just disagree with him because you don't like seeing your favorite toy belittled by someone older than you who was playing video games before you knew your ABC's.

I think this topic has made it quite clear that there are 2 camps. One believes that his review was fair and in line with his other reviews (which show other games in an equally less than pleasant light) and the other camp composed of fanboys whom don't want to admit to those faults and will argue over them till the sun goes down.

I don't worship Yahtzee nor his reviews, I just find them entertaining. I have disagreed with him before, particularly on his Oblivion review when he made the claim that everything is the same terrain wise.

For the last loving time...he is not criticizing the story itself, just the way it was written. His points are A) the cutscenes are too long and detract from the gameplay and B) the story needs to be presented in a clearer manor.

I just watched the review, and there was 1 thing that was true:
Following the storyline is difficult.

But everything else was either skewed, or entirely incorrect. When he says that the tranquilizer knocks them out in 1 hit, that's only if you're playing on the easiest difficulty. When he says that there's practically no sneaking, that's on the easiest difficulty.

I'm assuming by now that Yahtzee plays on the easiest mode of MGS4 and is more of a generic FPS kind of guy. If he played on anything harder than the very easy mode, he would have had to use his brain to get past the first part of the game. I played on normal difficulty, and it took me an hour just to get past the prologue part of the game because I was sneaking my way past the Gekkos, rather than running and jumping between their legs. The cardboard box wasn't used as frequently, and neither was the barrel. I personally used the OctoCamo most, but I still found times where I needed to use the cardboard box to sneak by a guard or two. Overall, I believe that he didn't get the full experience of MGS4 because he played on the easiest difficulty, and he should give it a try on a harder mode.

tl;dr
Yahtzee's review was skewed and mostly incorrect.

I already answered this in a post a page or so back but...

Even if you play on the lowest difficulty setting, the game should still retain some of it's core gameplay element. When you play Forza on easy you still have to accelerate and turn and brake and the works, when you play Battlefield on easy you still have to point the gun and shoot. If the creators of MGS4 can't seem to make an easy version that still required stealth then I don't see how they got into the game business.

I just finished COD4 on easy difficulty and that required pulse pounding stealth, you'd think a game that has it written on the loving box would be able to a better job.

Enjoying the full experience of a game shouldn't require cranking up the difficulty and dieing several hundred times in the same level.

Reactor, but think of it, why would they ask you to sneak up on enemies and do some uber 1337 stuff if you are playing on the easy difficulty? Yahtzee asked for easy, and he got easy. handicapped AI that die from one shot.

I'm not saying the easy mode should be hard (although some games do this). My point was that stealth should play a large role in a stealth action game regardless of what setting you turn it to.

You are brilliant.  Aside from the fact that it's from an RPG magazine forum, you've already shown everyone your cry_emote.gif and I told you it wasn't the case, yet you keep posting it.  I expected better from you, entrepreneur in.

Back on topic, I am allowed to say it's not funny, it is my opinion and it is a stated fact that a lot of the stuff he said isn't true, so what point are you trying to make?

that everything in oblivion is the same terrain twice.
Actually...

I'd lock the thread but I do not wish to appear as failtastic as it's inhabitants (tails and entrepreneur in excluded).

Move on people, this barrel of lulz has been drained by mindless fanboyism and off-topic discussion.

Oh no his reviews suck now that he's pointed out flaws in my favorite game! I hate him now!

Seriously if you now find yourself hating his criticism after he did Brawl, MGS4, and Halo3 and are still crying about it on the loving internet then please quit watching his reviews and quit harassing everyone who might casually disagree with you on the internet. No one cares about how you hate him now.

Sorry, I was under the impression that we were allowed to express our thoughts on how good of a job he did on his joke video that doesn't matter anyways yet all of you are getting a big stiffy over it.

Also, if you weren't ignorant, you'd realize I never once expressed hatred towards Yahtzee, infact, I said I liked his reviews when they were actually funny.

Oh right. I don't remember mentioning you directly in my post but whatever, we'll roll with it.

Of course "Expression of thoughts" also obviously gives you permission to troll others.

Yeah, sorry, I never knew you were mentally handicapped.
