Author Topic: Driving Bots  (Read 1126 times)

Someone could make a mod that gives u a bot that drives around on a set course. Ideal for races or tours.

Bots seem to have a problem with vehicles, so it might not be possible.

you might be right

He is, one time on Kaphix's server, a bunch of people were stuffing bots into boats, and they were just spinning around in one spot.

Bots can usually drive player-based vehicles (some types of boat and horses) and flying vehicles like the magic carpet. They have problems with wheeled vehicles like Jeeps and Stunt Planes, though.

It depends on the controls. If the vehicle instantly faces your mouse, like the horse, then they can drive. but if the vehicle is like the jeep, where it will continually rotate in the direction you moved the mouse in, then they just drive in circles.

They ussualy go right, so if you make a roundabout....

They drive fine, being able to go forwards and turn slightly right. If you tell them (paths, random movement, AI homing) to turn left in any way, they instantly jam right steer and will not come out of it. Ever.

Automatic corrections to the direction (adjusting it by tiny bits to face a player/target exactly) will tell the bot to turn very slightly right and left - causing the jam almost instantly.

I think i read that Badspot fixed the vehicle AI issue in V9, but yet that might of been some rumor someone made up
