No need to look up. And you can make a climbable Pipe if you make the spacing 5 instead of 2. You don't have to use a 4 by 4 as long as it's a plate.

There are many ways of making ladders (two 1x1 prints on top of each other with a 1x4 plate, same over. And i have put events on one.)

But you can not go back down without just falling off. It might be possible with V9 events but i do not know.
