I'm thinking of getting this game. But before I buy it I must know: Does it have Multiplayer? Are there any mods out? Is it basically a really good version of Sim City?

Not multiplayer. I don't think it's mod possible.

the different phases have nothing to do with each other really. once you unlock them all, you pretty much would skip to the space game everytime as replay.
just use creatures you created right away

I wasn't expecting to be as good as the hype so I'm satisfied with it. My brother's been hogging it a lot but I've gone Predator etc. etc. I'm up to the Civ stage.

Yesterday, some race thought they would attack my planets. So I killed every one of their colonies, then royally forgeted their home world. Home worlds, at the moment for me, are really hard to take. So what I did was buy two meteor showers and 5 drought generators and just killed all the life on it.

Basically it dropped the T score from 3 to 0 within like 10 seconds turning the planet into a super heated wasteland. Since the T score was so low, all their cities were destroyed and a single bubble colony was left, which was easy to remove.
