I wanted to use GCFScape to look at sounds and other files for Left 4 Dead, but i get this error

C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\left 4 dead sound.ncf loaded.
Error writing C:\Users\Jesse\AppData\Local\Temp\Blank.wav (Error: NCF files are indexes and do not contain any file data.)

Portal was like this for a while, same with the new Scout sounds from the Scout update, but it stopped, Left 4 Dead doesn't seem to be changing, why is this? D:

Plenty of people have been able to get the sounds from Left 4 Dead, but i can't...

Look in the sounds folder within Left 4 Dead, they aren't complied. Thats how I got all the L4D music and installed the Bill Cosby sound pack.

Bah, i can't find the textures they use for stuff like the characters and such, i looked in the materials folder and found nothing :S

Anyway, i may not be able to play with you today, just so you know :(

I'm sure several textures are from HL2 itself, check the source materials gcf. The characters, though. Have you checked all folders?

Agh, so many folders to go through... I think i've been through most, but not all, i'll have to double check

I was trying to look for that "We've got PILLS HERE!" poster you see in Dead Air, i wanted to make a poster just like that, for Blockland, i made one anyway by looking at a screenshot i took when i was looking at the sign, it came out pretty good, only i don't know what the 5 rows of text says under the PILLS HERE! part, so i typed jibberish, but i forgot to pixelate it some to make it look less like jibberish, but i had already saved it and forgot to save it as a paint.net file so i could fix it later :(
