How do you apply textures in Blender? For example, if you make a sofa and want to apply a texture so it looks like fabric to it, how do you do it?

Haha, thanks yndaaa!
Yes, the twisted proportions were intentional, of course.
As for the face, I did experience some trouble translating it to the side; next time I will try and be more precise. If you ever happen to model a character off another reference of mine, I advise you to use the frontal view of the face as your primary reference. :P

Since I'm here, I might as well dig something up from my models folder:

If you aren't using the newest version of blender:

Edit mode > Shading (F5) > Texture Buttons (F6)
In the textures panel, click the arrow next to TE:TEX and click ADD NEW.
In "Texture Type" click "Image".
In the "Image" panel, load your desired image.
Go back to "Material Buttons" and in the textures panel, choose your texture.
Play around with some of the variables to get your texture aligned the way you like.

Err, one question how to bevel in the new blender?

Uhh, I've loaded the texture into Blender, but how do I apply it to a mesh? I've selected it, but it won't show up on the mesh.
Oh, you have to render it to see. Oh well, but now it just looks strange. Pic

Look at the sides, I want the texture to look the same on all sides and I don't want it stretched.

Try texturing a plane mesh i'd like to see a result of that.

A more appropriately sized stocking, before, it would be from the head down to the waist, now it's about the size of a torso

Go into Map Input in the materials buttons and enable Cube instead of Flat.
