Author Topic: The new and improved 3D model topic!  (Read 4744959 times)

This makes me want to learn to model so Badly :( I tried a couple times, just don't understand it.
one thing a lot of people miss is that modelling is not easy, you will have to start with tutorials and practice a lot, you will not learn it quickly, it will take a while, this is true for pretty much all types of art and artists, what program did you use the first couple times?

what program did you use the first couple times?
I'm guessing Blender, because Blender's complex UI scares many new modelers away.

I decided to mess around with the model of the yellow car I posted earlier.

Loving the car, what's it modeled after?

Well since everyone is uploading their cars on p3d

It's not that intimidating once you learn a little about it, even if you're doing a full-sxale project I doubt you'll use more than half of the buttons in te ui, but then again that doesnt tend to matter to newer users, one of my friends took one look at the ui when I was just starting out on it and said "I'm never going to learn this" and he never touched blender again, a shame because he'd probably be better than me if he chose to learn it

Also pandan that's pretty cool, I think I'm going to make a pew pew spaceship now.

I feel like this is what cars were meant to look like in blockland. Really neat, loving the curves.

His feels a little over-detailed. Not a bad thing, just not my interest.
I prefer yours because its smooth shaded, yet it retains the style.

I did that too but I came back a month later and tried to learn it. I eventually succeeded.

When I first used Blender is was 2.49, I didn't switch to Blender until a year after using MS3D(when I was getting more into modeling) and the UI got a lot more friendly on the eyes after Blender 2.5x. Now it is my favorite modeling program.

But still, I was scared away at first because it is fairly complex, and usually only used by people serious about modeling.

I Like it a lot, the only thing I am not really sure about is the b13 on the back of the car, Maybe just a B instead?

You are correct, I had tried to use it a couple times, I just didn't understand it.

I like that a lot, the tires are very unique for that vehicle!
