8:23 AM - New York City
I wake up, the sun is shining through my blinds, I open them and take a look outside. I see cars abandoned on the highway 8 floors down, an army Humvee is burning in the middle of the road. Wait!
I think I see someone! They are climbing out of a crashed car, should I yell to them? Maybe they know what happened?
Suddenly, I see a group of 5 people running down the street, I am pretty high up, but I see them running awkwardly, arms flailing a bit. They jump on the survivor, I see bits of flesh fly into the air, I hear a scream, I hear some growls. I am freaked out. I get away from the window, all the hours playing Left 4 Dead will be put to the test.
I quickly brown townyze the safety of my large apartment on the 8th floor, the front door is 1 inch of metal, that should hold up. There are a lot of windows, and assuming that they can't climb, the only window I have to worry about is the one with the fire escape, they could climb up that easily.
I barricade the window, I should be safe for now.
I turn on a light. Great, its works! I run to my iPhone which I left next to my bed, the zombies outside are gone, the remains of the first survivor are still laying there on the highway.
I open up the twitter application on my iPhone, I check the trending topics. Oh, for those of you unfamiliar with Twitter, the trending topics are the popular things people are talking about on Twitter.
1: ZOMBIES?!
2: stuff WTF
3: forget
4: OH JESUS
5: IS ANYONE ALIVE??
6: Praying
7: Getting my shotguns
8: FU OBAMA!
9: #zombies
10: Adam Lambert
Now I know that there are more people alive, I check to see if there is anyone in my area. I search for recent tweets in my area, the last one was 6 hours ago, there hasn't been one since. No one in the entire downtown New York City has tweeted with a gps enabled cell phone. Is this really the end?
I decided it was best to stay inside, no point in going out now. I have enough food to last a week, and the zombies shouldn't bother me.
But its the nights that I worry about, I don't think I will be able to sleep. The only sleeping pills are these cruddy homeopathic ones, I could use a bottle of 'em and they wouldn't do stuff.
Desperate to hear from someone who is near me, I go on facebook. "No new notifications"
"Hmph, well that figures. A zombie apocalypse and no one has bothered to write on my wall to see if I am okay."
