You're supposed to use it for fast travel in the normal world. You build a second portal down there, use it to go back to the surface, and you'll come out far away.

Or I guess you could just build shelter and live down there for extra challenge.

I think it must have some better purpose. It looks pretty hard to collect, just from being so high up AND in hell, so my guess is you can craft some useful tool out of it.

cause the dirt that burns forever makes more since for lanterns cause it's not as hard as getting the gold stuff also it 'burns forever' so it already has the effects for it
