I never said they had to be blocky. I meant the concept and feel of Minecraft in a modern-looking game. And no, not fortresscraft, something like the picture on the last page.

x256 textures for minecraft are incredibly taxing.

You should really only go higher than 32x if you can actually handle it.

Ew.  That looks awful.  Why is everyone trying to make Minecraft look "realistic"?  It looks like stuff when you do that.  Aesthetics are much more important than cramming Crysis textures in a low-poly game.  It makes no sense.
