I came to a conclusion that Minecraft's multiplayer coding is even more broken than it was before.

No, seriously.  Somewhere in between 1.7.3 and 1.5 the code literally broke into pieces and it is incredibly horrible for most people to play online.  I literally can't imagine someone that has a more enjoyable experience on SMP than they do on SSP.
