I'm not sure if anybody else has ever done this, but i think i discovered a really good design for wheat farms. So the story is: i was sitting in geography class when the term "Terraced Farming" came up. so i was like ".. i wonder how that'd be in minecraft" I took a couple of days to plan out how it would work, and came up with this design.

1 mountain yields a stack and a bit of wheat, more than enough to feed yourself. basically you start out with a 9X9 base, but only the outline of it. then you fill the inside with water, then add the next layer, still hollow, and fill it with water. Do this till you hit the very top,
and at the tip just put a block of cobble with a torch. i also surround them with little torch towers to keep them lit. let's just say i have a LOT of bread.

Awesome job! :D

That's quite amazing.

You could design it so that you just have to pour a bucket of water at the top.

yeah i was also thinking of changing the torch+cobble into a glowstone, and putting a contraption above that pours water to the farm with the flip of a switch, maybe add a central collection cbrown town.

Awesome job! :D

That's quite amazing.
thanks :D

Wow Kade, that's great. A simple design but it's very effective. Nice job.

Anyways, I was farming and a creeper snuck up on me. Luckily my farm has a fence around it or he would have done a lot more damage.

That's a amazing design! I gotta try that at some point.

oh yeah, not only are easily adaptable, they're easily expandable.
i didn't add a fence only because i put up a wall around my camp and lit up the inside.

also i didn't actually expect this to get as much positive feedback as it did!

yeah, all four yield a stack and about a half of bread.  (when they are ALL harvested)

Your design would greatly assist me; living in the mountains there is seldom land flat enough for cultivation. I'll have to try that once I've a roof over my head.

i take it i discovered this, then?..

well, glad to help.

The people who invented terrace farming did. You just put it in minecraft.

I just make automatic farms.

well yeah, that's true.

Oh! it also works with sugarcane.
and i suppose melons and pumpkins, but it's not as effective with them.

I just make automatic farms.
the one i made could be automatic, if you wanted it to be. it'd just take some tweaking.

also ? that's what i meant.

One 9x9-7x7-5x5-3x3-1x1 Pyramids (kade's design) makes 74 wheat.
