Nobody plants trees on servers anymore. I'd love to join a server right now but the ones I tried are devoid of materials.

Have you tried the Viodestructo server? It's in the 'games' section on these forums somewhere.
Okay, maybe not everyone replants trees but I do and a small forest is developing around my house.

Have too much redstone but not going to use it? Use the redstone as paths from and to. If you can't use up any more charcoal/coal, just place a redstone torch down next to that stuff. BAM, instant lighting.
