I was going on there to find out if the new maps showed other players or not, because if not that'd be a pretty interesting addition, like a Marauder's Map type deal

It appears that someone has hacked the minecraft wiki and put some viruses on it.

EDIT: Just checked, minecraftforum.net got infected too it seems.

It's just your antivirus stuff being a bunch of Nortons. It's safe as far as I know.

Its nothing to worry about, It was just a bad ad according to one of the admin posts on the forums located here

Quote
Due to an advertisement issue we're currently seeing the following error message if you visit the forum or wiki via google in google chrome if you have the security options enabled:

Do not worry! This issue is being investigated, it will be resolved as soon as possible.

Sorry for any inconvenience, we love you!

so it won't affect us if you have adblock, then?

Anyone wanna make a server and just hang out or burn trees or anything?

Anyone who is curious, the advertisement control on the website slipped in a bad one which sent warning signals everywhere, turning the entire site into a 'virus' to everyone. Not sure if it is fixed now, but blame loving advertisement management sites for being morons.

Would I get a virus if I bypass my Browser warning or not?

They have one of those bug report sites now, instead of our wiki issues page, so it's a lot easier for them to find specific bugs, especially when they are being commented on as true a lot, and get them fixed. I do wonder what will happen to our Issues page, though... I'm not sure they set up the site for snapshots, so maybe we'll still have a place.

Dinnerbone says it was a false warning. You should be safe.

Ok is the virus fixed now?

Would I get a virus is I bypass my Browser warning or not?
a maliscious ad was placed on the minecraft websites.
unsure if they fixed it or not yet, but it's unlikely you'd get anything unless you go around clicking ads.
