Minecraft Megathread; yeah its update 1.12 big whoop what about it

Hey hey!

Unfortunately we have to patch Minecraft again, this time to fix the broken LAN server functionality. Good news is that this only affects the client, so 1.4.5 clients will be able to play on 1.4.4 servers without any problems.

Fixes included:

• Clients now get the correct IP for LAN servers
• Fixed the incorrect positions of some particles
• … and fixes for MC-2507, MC-2508, MC-2500, and MC-2498

ok. my laptop is from early-2010
nvidia 330m,
intel quad 2.0ghz (+4 simulated cores)
6gigs ddr3

then my friend's summer-2012 desktop
amd some mid level 2012 vid card, whatever model (it can max any other modern high end game)
amd 6core 3.0ghz
8gigs ddr3

both our comps use optifine

her comp should be obviously superior to mine. yet she gets like 15fps at normal settings. and weird graphical aliasing looking lines in the distance.

and my comp can blow the game out of the water with forced x16aa and x16AF. but my hardware is aged.

wtf is the deal here. i have tweaked her stuff and updated her drivers to no end. there is no enhancing the game.
its playable and fine. but for christ's sake the comp can play any game that exists, and for some reason minecraft's graphics are to much for it.

now that i think about it. my laptop can play blockland much better then hers.
is this an nvidia/opengl thing or something?

hoping to upgrade to a newer PC with these specs sometime within the next year:
NVIDIA 6 or 700-series card
3.2ghz Intel core-at least
At least 12GB of RAM (i have 12 on this PC)

extract the files, edit the .bat to the right amount of memory, double click the bat

Jaxx, that's not what he's looking for. he's looking up how to actually use the server.

but otherwise it's just like a regular minecraft server, except using the tekkit launcher and server, so you could also look up a regular minecraft server guide.
