Vanila is boring and mods lag the game. Until there's a reasonable in-between, I'll hold off on minecraft a bit.

idk, vanilla is satisfactory, but probably because i don't dull myself to vanilla by using mods that add to the game.

I like doing Direwolf20's Pack in single player a lot. If it lags for you, then oh well.

idk, vanilla is satisfactory, but probably because i don't dull myself to vanilla by using mods that add to the game.

I suppose Vanilla would be fun with friends. It's funny, because with mods, it's the complete opposite. Even if you're all close friends, everyone goes off and does their own thing with their favorite mod, which completely defeats the purpose of playing together.

My cousins, friends, and I all are generally in the same home in my FTB server.

Weird. When I played FTB back then, I was the one making automated animal farms, someone else was off working on a quarry, and the third guy was just exploring in caves. Perhaps my group didn't have that "togetherness".

I did the same except we still had our own home, we just had one explorer, builder/farm person, and miner, was fun.

So in my freetime for the past few days ive slowly been working on this castle/city/fortress/thing, and I'm finally getting to the point where I'm sick of building walls. I think I'm going to go into MCEdit or something similar to raise the bottom part of the wall up 3-4 blocks, but besides that, I'm not sure what to do. Any advice is welcomed.

I would suggest adding some contrast on the walls with different types of stone though.

I was thinking about adding different blocks after I was done. Besides that, I'm probably going to have to use MCEdit to fix the "stubbyness" of the bottom.

Bottom looks fine, gives the wall a bit more of a foundation it seems.
