This is just a different view on a possible way to mine without the need for lighting up dark carves every so often and without having the need for torches during day in mines. You could mine it like a quarry and in a way cerate a small, round valley.

God damn it indev, I hid in my cabin during the night and got surrounded by like 5 creepers. So yeah. A big crater where my cabin was.

Try building a island fort :) I haven't had any bad encounters above ground for a while.

The last thing I always hear is "Sssssss" and then half my house is gone, I've got to check my furnace next time to see if the gas valve isn't leaking.
I had it with the mainland and built my fort on a nearby island.



It's much safer now and I have a good little friend to look after the joint when I'm mining, I call him Sir. Pigalot.

There's a vast tunnel system under my house with ones that lead to the mainland and to my underground lava tree farms, that aren't working as of yet (I suspect Sir. Pigalot sneaks down there and eats my shrubs!)

Currently in minecraft-topia I'm a chef, since that's my real trade in life.
Poor Sir. Pigalot gets scared when I bring home hundreds of raw bacon from the mainland to cook.
