It is roughly a small waterway that had an item ontop when he broke the gold block, it let the water flow the item to him.

He actually dropped the item in the water.

One thing I can thing of is it can be used as a self destruct of sorts.

If 3 10-lever combo rooms were made, a vault could have your standard 3-digit combo code.

You need to generate a new chunk, then go spelunking on that chunk. It could be a new piece of land; or an entirely new world. Just go somewhere new.
