I like to build on flat ground because it tends to have better security. Except my house seems to be directly under or atleast near an underground river, and several times I have almost fallen and killed myself.

Lame. Real men build in dangerous places. Also, it's much easier to make stuff when you live right near all the mountains and stone you will ever need.
