Actually I hit the surface not too far from where my tunnel was being dug and found a trio of spiders, I got the forget out of there

I used to always play on peaceful, but today I started a save on easy just to try it, and it was fun. but I still can't go into caves on any difficulty other than peaceful.

You buncha pussies, i have never played on peaceful. Cave exploring is like 3 quarters of what makes minecraft exciting
