Quick question, Does anyone else have problem with mobs on SMP

For me mobs have a longer melee range, Thus making everything but skeletons annoying to kill.

Zombies are extremly easy,but you almost can't defeat them without losing at least one half of a heart.
Spiders i hate,they are the bane of my existance.
Skeletons i can dispatch in 5 seconds.
Creepers i can take out but i won't dare to try if there's more than one/they're at my house's door
Ghasts are the same as spiders.
Pigmen i'll only hate if they are in a massive group. I mean massive.

Skeletons are easy. Though sometimes I lose a half heart to a full one when fighting one. Pretty strong in a group.
Spiders. AUUGH.
Creepers are kind of medium, and I can't fight them in a group.
