It's basically like burning netherrack except that there's no risk in going to the Nether on Easy+ and that it burns forever, unlike logs, even though it uses a log in the recipe which I'm still not sure about. I'm thinking a piece of coal on bottom with flint and steel in the middle, that might make more sense.

It would look like this on all sides but the bottom where it would be the regular brick texture on the bottom, and on top there would be no gradient.

Ok, I noticed people making lots of suggestions. Here's what I have to say.
In order to think of something realistic for Notch to implement, it needs to be simple. If you add an entirely new dungeon idea or bird egg blocks that would be going too fast in one update. It just doesn't seem like Notch would do that.
Let the Mojang team make large bounds like that.
