Zynga has not make a good game yet. All they have is stuffty 2D games. Better yet, they bought the Ponzi Inc game on Facebook and have yet to use the code for good use. So they likely did something what your saying.

On the game dev company contest a year back, it was Zynga vs Infinity Ward, and the rules said "No telling fans about the tournament that don't know about it; you are not allowed to tell people to vote for you". Zynga made over 4 posts a day on Facebook saying rewards for voting for them, and all Infinity Ward could do was sit there and obey the rules.
