When the modding support is added, there will be support for sandboxing mods to give them less access to important stuff. You can chose to trust a mod if you want to, and if it needs to do fancy things, but the default will be to run the mod sandboxed.

Tingalz is saying it's stupid to let an emotionless, voiceless shell with no personality win best video game character. Gordon freeman shouldn't have even been on that list, he isn't a character. Protagonist, sure. Not a character. He never talks, never makes his own descisions, and never has any opportunities for character development. Every single action he does is decided by the player. He is just a pixel suit for the person playing the game. Gordon Freeman didn't save Earth from the Combine, you did.
