There are no occlusion culling actif at this moment. Only Frustum (Draw what's in your view range). What occlusion culling do, is : Objects that are behind other one won't be sent to graphic card for rendering.ex : Even if you don't see them, the caves are sent to the graphic card for rendering (even if they are hiden by the ground floor), ...Notch says that occlusion culling should be supported by most computer. In fact, to know if something needs to be culled or not (occlusion culled), you need to do computation taking into account the depth of the objects, and this needs CPU power. So with Occlusion Culling OFF :- CPU power needed "Low"- GPU (graphic card) power needed "High" (Because lot of things are rendered even if you don't see them).Occlusion Culling ON :- CPU power needed "Higher" (Compute the occlusion)- GPU (graphic card) power needed "Lower" (Because less things needs to be rendered).Simply, so it is a matter to see where is the bottleneck for low FPS on your system (GPU/CPU) !
