Minecraft Megathread; yeah its update 1.12 big whoop what about it

So a friend of mine just got Minecraft, he has read up and knows a fair ammount. He has heard about the Aether and is really excited to play on it. Although he doesn't know its a mod. Is there any way for me to get it to him easily?

There are a lot of modloaders, but I can't ever get them to work. TFC's works fine, but the download is gone and it may be back eventually.

how about

download a second copy of Minecraft

delete everything but the .jar file

install Aether to the .jar

give him the .jar and tell him to replace that one with the original

Tell him it is a mod and to look up videos for installing it?

Well... You dont technically "Need" Resources, FFFFFFF I forgot to copy my jar so It got cleared when patching for  texture paks
What program could I use on a windows vista for making a Textur pak?
