Minecraft Snapshot 12w07a

Here’s the development snapshot of week 7, 2012! List of changes:

  • Added new world file format called “Anvil” (256 max height and 4096 block IDs*)
  • Multi-player light calculations do no longer cause affected blocks to be transmitted to the clients, instead the clients will recalculate the light on their own
  • Villagers will repopulate villages based on how many houses there are available
  • Some nights in villages will be worse than others…
  • Added a redstone-controlled light source
  • Decreased chance for the rare mob drops
  • All animals use the new AI system now

Get the snapshot here:

Client: http://assets.minecraft.net/12w07a/minecraft.jar
Server: http://assets.minecraft.net/12w07a/minecraft_server.jar

Update! New version number is 12w07b, fixing the following problems:

Crash bug corrupting levels when spawning mobs above the 255th block
Sheep animation is correct in SMP

Server: http://assets.minecraft.net/12w07b/minecraft_server.jar

NOTE: This snapshot will convert the maps you load to the new file format. If you want to revert to the old format, you need to replace the “level.dat” file with the file called “level.dat_mcr”. The new format will write world regions to files called “*.mca”, so your original regions will remain as “*.mcr”.

Note: It has a MASSIVE amount of bugs. Shadows no longer work - the only darkness is nighttime. I can see all the way down to the bottom of oceans. But don't worry, caves aren't bright - because they don't even generate. Just two of the problems I've actually witnessed. I've heard of so many more.

see, but this only works with the generated houses, because mojang is lazy and then cant impliment a checking code to see if you made a house or not...

"All animals use the new AI system now"

will that mean they wont randomly throw themselves down a cliff when you're trying to get them to go by you using wheat?

snop

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P5-7nD-LpeI <-- You can make Redstone Displays using Redstone Lamps and Detector Rails! :o Look at my example video.

I thought they said it wasn't generated villages only...

>New snapshot

Okay cool.

>Redstone Lamps

Now I can make stage better stage lights. Ones that don't make annoying-ass noises when they turn on or off.

Plus, pistons are a pain in the ass for someone who doesn't have much experience with Redstone.

That's odd. I'm not experiencing the lighting bug.

There is no shadows. Look for them.

Minecraft is testing out interiors and terrain. ;P

I don't know what algorithm determines how many babies are made, but this village is loving full of them. Fast little forgeters. And from what I've witnessed, they've begun to form gangs and have been ransacking random houses all at once. I caught a picture of a group of four who have been sticking together, all jumping into random people's houses at once. I've actually seen the owners jumping out of the house in fear...

The librarian seems to keep them under control momentarily.

He tells them scary fairy tales.
