What the forget is a technic pack
a modpack that includes a bunch of popular mods. I personally don't use it but that's what I heard it is.
Is there any way to "create" animals? The island I'm on is not inhabited by anything except me and the mobs that spawn at night.
like legitly? I don't think so. a fix would be to install TMI or NEI and switch to creative and spawn some spawn eggs and spawn some mobs then delete the spawn eggs then switch to survival again.

I CAN'T DO ANYTHING
it's called not enough items or NEI for short and it is locked in recipe mode by default. to unlock it you need to go into the config (which you can open in notepad or any other text editing programs) and change the lockrecipemode=true to lockrecipemode=false. then it basically acts like too many items or TMI
but if you don't want to cheat items in, you can can press the R key to look at the recipe for the item you pressed R on. or you can press U to look at the uses for items. there are more features that you can look at the forum thread for that i'm too lazy to post about.
