On Mac it's only 1 more step, which is to just use archive utility to unarchive the jar or zip and copy the contents to the minecraft jar.

Unless you're like me. You have a shell command to do all of that for you. Run script, install mods in ~/mctmp/, go back to terminal and press enter. Bewm

UPDATE: There was a bug that caused the game to crash when you “instant-destroyed” blocks with tools. For example when shearing leaves or removing crops with a hoe. This has been fixed, so the links above point to version “12w23b.”

The only thing about farming melons is that after you get a different source of food, melons become useless but if you keep on farming them, they pile up!

So I just started making melons blocks a lot and placing them in a pile.

And it grew so big I put my enchanting table in it
