In 1.3, the game works as a server. In theory, all mods would work in SMP if made after that point. But a lot of mods definitely would have trouble converting to SMP for functionality. They want Minecraft 1.4 to have the Mod API, we'll see. Should at least get partially implemented by then.

It was an official meeting they scheduled. EvilSeph explained that you had to apply to actually talk, considering how obviously hectic it'd get if every little kid that joined could spam research links. But considering you, Kalph, I'm sure if you had applied at the time they would have let you be one of the people in the discussion. And considering 1.3 isn't even out yet, there may be a chance for another meeting to be held between now and 1.4. Who knows...

Actually, they take people into consideration based on the mods or work they've done for Minecraft. I'm sure a lot of people with legitimate technical knowledge that would have been useful would have been excluded from the discussion because they haven't actually made any notable modifications for the game.
