we both died due to messing around too much and then not cooperating at night and then creepers happened, but eventually i was able to get a lil house started even though my dad kept trying and failing at making a stone roof :P

that's a valid argument for the plains biomes, but most are bordered by forest anyway, so if you settle near the forest it doesn't make a difference.

can we stop complaining about crafting recipes? most of the recipes are unrealistic, you can somehow mold diamond gems into sword blades, pick heads, axe heads, shovel heads, and hoe heads using only a few simple tools on the side of a crafting table

I thought we just picked them up and twisted the diamonds into the required shape, since we have the strength to punch down trees, karate chop the logs into perfect planks, karate chop them even more into the shape of pickaxes using tree sap as adhesive, then hollowing out a mountain and carrying all the cobblestone in our bottomless pockets.

tl;dr, forget logic.

we smash the diamonds down to dust with the hammer and mold them into the shapes with glue.

There's some problem with lightmaps with Optifine 1.3.1 which causes it to color the world blue. I went to look up lightmaps from other texture packs which might fix this: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1169705-16x125-high-on-sugar-v13updatedmay4/ Hope this updates to 1.3.1.
