I don't think I'll have any use for dyed armor because I mean seriously, who uses leather armor anyway? It provides such mediocre protection compared to iron which in most cases is easier to track down

decorations aren't supposed to be practical.

Paint should be made with Cauldrons. Mix water and the dye of your choice together to make paint.

dyes can already color things on their own, so it makes sense that you should be able to simply throw them together since they'll be "coloring" each other.

Massive transitions of mods really sucks. Millenaire mod crashes when I do about anything, like opening any of the village chests. Maybe even when the NPCs open the chests.

either way it's been suggested hundereds of times since beta 1.7 and would be more useful than coloured armour

Did they ever say they wouldn't consider it? You make it sound like they said no. It hasn't been discussed with them, and how they'd be implemented... is hard to figure out.

it was suggested by Misa and dinnerbone got all grumpy about some breaking things and redstone.

the only thing i can see colorful leather armor being good for is cheap camo on servers, the only bad part is people can just make leather armor look like bands and ringlets and your perfectly colored camouflage is about as useful as covering yourself in streamers
